Macbeth Projects: Choose One of the Following
Because of the complexity of some of the assignments and the ease of others, I have tiered the assignments. If you choose an "A" assignment the highest grade you can receive is an "A"; if you choose a "B" assignment, the highest grade you can receive is a "B"; if you choose a "C" assignment, the highest grade you can receive is a "C".
"A" Assignments
1. Character Map: Map the character development of either Lady Macbeth or Macbeth within the play--show how the character changes or develops within the play. You will also need to submit a one page paper explaining how Macbeth's or Lady Macbeth's character changed during the play. The following is just a brief sample. I expect your character development to be far more developed. Note you do not need to use pictures for each character trait, but I do expect there to be some pictures in your finished product. The important part of this assignment is to show character development.

2. Socio-gram: Develop the relationships between the main characters and some of the important minor characters of the play. Your relationship map must be more developed than the the example that I have given here: Write a one page paper explaining the different relationships of the characters of Macbeth. Note you do not need to use pictures for minor characters, but I do expect there to pictures of main characters.

"B" Assignments
3. Words, Words, Words, -- Elizabethan Word Bank: In England today you will hear unfamiliar words for familiar things: an elevator is a "lift" and gasoline is "petrol." You will also hear familiar words with unfamiliar meanings: a "chemist's" is a drugstore. The same is true of language in Elizabethan times. The object of this project is to create a scrapbook of unfamiliar words or familiar words that had a different meaning in Shakespeare's lifetime. You will have questions to answer that are a part of this assignment.
4. Create a storyboard pertaining to one of the acts in Macbeth. You should depict the highlights of the act. Create the story board on a poster, PowerPoint or Movie Maker. The storyboard at: http://urbachc.org/urb_macbeth_pic9.htm is a storyboard over the entire play. Remember, your storyboard is to be over ONE act. You may also want to look at all the pictures if you are not much of an artist and would like to use pictures instead of your own drawings--there are hyperlinks to pictures at the bottom of this web page. You will also need to submit a one page summary of the act that you have storyboarded.
"C" Assignments
5. Create a map of Scotland showing the places in Scotland that are depicted in Macbeth. You will also answer questions using the map to help you find the answers. (If you choose to do this assignment, I will give you the questions). Under pictures, click on "pic 10 and pic 7". These WebPages contain maps. http://urbachc.org/urb_macbeth_pic10.htm
6. Shakespeare's Stage -- Create a diagram of the Globe Playhouse identifying parts of the theater. You will have questions to answer that are a part of this assignment. http://urbachc.org/urb_macbeth_pic11.htm
