OY, YOU NEVER VISIT YOUR MOTHER’S WEB SITE
Not That You Should Care, Mr. I-Have-My-Own-Site-Now

I enjoyed reading this satire because the title caught my attention. I chose this one because it is humorous yet can be taken seriously.

Have you ever had difficulty managing your time? I have, especially now that I am a senior in high school. It is difficult to manage you time wisely when you begin to have more responsibilities in life. There is more homework, college decisions, career decisions, money for gas, a vehicle, car insurance, and enough to do what you want with friends and family. It is complicated to work everything in you schedule because this is such an important year. This year reflects how well you will do for the rest of your life as well as student loans and scholarships. Because this is such an important year, it is often hard to find leisure time for friends and family. People my age begin to realize that the decisions they make now will come back in life later on in the future. They begin to realize that everything their life beholds is no longer in their parents hands, but in theirs.
In result of this, one has to learn to take responsibility for their own actions and more importantly how to manage their time. Are you going to college? What college do you want to go to? Do you want to go far away or stay close to home? What career do you want for the remainder of your life? How do you still manage to spend quality time with your family and friends? How will you survive after you turn 18? These are all questions that go through every senior’s mind and yet there is no right answer. These are all life changing decisions and everyone feels differently about them. First of all, one must be prepared for whatever obstacles life may throw them. They cannot wait until their senior year to get their priorities straight and to get a great education. It will be much easier if you have a plan throughout your high school career. One must decide if their college destination is responsible and if they can really survive going away from home and surviving on their own to live the “college life.” One must find a vehicle that is in good shape yet is within their financial budget and determine how much the insurance will be a month. The best way would to get a part time job (close to your home so that you use less gas), have enough time to complete their assignments and be able to study, and yet still have time to spend leisure time with friends and family and some alone time.

I agree. There is a lot of things that a senior has to worry about. It never seems like there is enough time for everything in your life. Managing your time can be one of the hardest things to do. I also like your solutions to time mangement. I’m not sure that i understand what exactly is being satired in this satire though.

Now that i really understand what a satire is I don’t think that mine is one. I believe that it has a good storyline and has a good problem and solution but there is no sarcasm. My satire is more like a commentary.

Who needs time? There is more than enough time to get everything done in one day. Charlie was a senior in high school and about to graduate. He did not think that it was necessary to make plans for college before he graduated and he did not want a job because he did not need money. He spent all his time hanging out with his buddies because he did not care about his grades and did not want any responsibilities, including doing his homework and studying. One day him and his friend were talking and he kept asking him why he does his homework. He thought to himself, “Why would you do homework when you could be out partying with your friends every night?” His friend said, “I have all the time in the world, I go to school, work a full time job, do all of my homework, study, and party with my friends every night.” The days are so long that he always wonders if they are going to last forever. He has more than enough time to do everything and he just sleeps away most of the day because there is nothing better to do with all this time.

This is a lot better. The sarcasm is greatly improved. It actually is in the form of a satire which is what was lacking in your first draft. You did a great job revising it and making it more satirical. Good Job.

Who needs to prepare for college? Charlie was a sophomore in high school and knew that he had plenty of time to change his life around. He knew that he did not have to worry about his grades until his senior year. He knew that it was time to party and not time to plan ahead for his future. Him and his friend Jimmy were talking one day about how they were growing up so quickly and that they could not believe it. Charlie asked Jimmy, “Why do you care about your grades now? It is not like they matter or anything. Why would you bother doing your homework and studying if you still have two more years to improve? If you wait until your senior year you can party all you want. Aren’t you supposed to live your high school years to the fullest?” Jimmy just shook his head and walked away. Charlie thought to himself, “It is okay, we will see who enjoys their high school life. I know that I will get into Harvard!”
