Writing is like birthing a baby. It is hard work but well worth it! This is a place for you to vent or to ask others for help in writing your satire. REMEMBER all postings must be within school policy.

A few of my favorite satires…
1.) a. CORRECTION: BUSH FAINTS AFTER CHOKING “THE” PRETZEL, NOT CHOKING “ON” PRETZEL
I enjoyed this satire because it has a catchy title and it draws people in because many people do not like President Bush and they make fun of him. Many people were amused by him choking on his pretzel and this is basically making fun of him. Also as you can see by his approval ratings, people don’t like him but they do like to make fun of him. Also it is saying that most presidents were too busy doing “other things” instead of thinking about the problems in America.
    b. STUDY FINDS YOU REALLY DON’T MAKE A DIFFERENCE
I also enjoyed this one because it has a catchy title. It draws you in because you want to know what they mean and why you don’t make a difference. Also, I believe that it is saying that the everyday working person does not get noticed and basically is working for nothing because the pay has hit a major downfall. Many people work for minimum wage and cannot live off of it. Basically I think that they are trying to make a point that the American workers are underpaid and un-noticed.
c.RECORD 75 MILLION AMERICANS NOW PRETENDING THEY OWN THEIR OWN HOMES
Last but not least, I liked this satire because the title makes you question what they mean by Americans are pretending that they own their own homes. After reading this satire I believe that they are trying to point out the fact that many people spend a bunch of money on things they are owned by the government. Basically whether you have paid for something in full or not you still do not own it because the government does. So basically… what can we as Americans say we own?

Some of my favorite satires include: The Daily Show, on Comedy Central. I enjoy the humorous and biting wit they use to make a point about how misunderstood politics really are in America. Upon visiting Satirewire.com, I read about the “Remaining U.S. CEOs make a break for it.” I enjoyed this article; how it put the CEOs as an unstoppable band of troublemakers that the country is trying hard to stop. Good uses of sarcasm. FInally, I also enjoy the sometimes subtle but notorously catchy use of satire by writer Seth McFarlane, of “Family Guy” fame.

I forgot to put the titles of the ones i read… they were
    -POLICE MUST NOTIFY RESIDENTS WHEN
CATHOLIC CHURCH MOVES INTO NEIGHBORHOOD and
-ELLISON TO GRADS: DIPLOMAS ARE FOR LOSERS

I am not sure if the one I sent earlier went throuh…
    -POLICE MUST NOTIFY RESIDENTS WHEN
    CATHOLIC CHURCH MOVES INTO NEIGHBORHOOD
I find this article to be interesting because I am also Roman Catholic. But as for the suggestions in this article, I disagree. I feel there are more priests out there that you don’t have to worry about, then the ones you have to worry about.

-ELLISON TO GRADS: DIPLOMAS ARE FOR LOSERS
This article is funny because it is telling students to drop out of Yale, It states that some of the peolpe that make the most money dropped out of college, like Gates and Dell. Basically it tells students that schooling is not necessary to be successful.
    I found these at.. http://www.satirewire.com/index.shtml

I chose the satire about the axis of just as evil. I think this satire shows that the U.S. is in a big problem with the rest of the world. Not only do we have countries hating us, but we now have countries practically competing to see who can be more evil. I found it pretty interesting.
