Aliff American Civil War Connections

Vicksburg National Cemetery Park Botetourt (Virginia) Artillery
![]()
In the 1860's it looks as if my great-
grandfather, Asa Aliff may have been involved in the Civil War and fought with the Confederates.
Asa's name appears on the Vicksburg National Cemetery Park Confederate Parole list:
http://www.nps.gov/vick/parole/csp_indx.htm
| Last Name | First Name | Rank | Unit | State | Paroled |
| ALIFF | ASA | PVT | BOTETOURT/ART | VA | FIELD |
There is no other document to substantiate that this is the same Asa Aliff of our ancestry. The age is right and the area of Virginia is close to where he lived (Botetourt
County) is next to Roanoke and Bedford Counties VA.
It appears that the only Virginia troop at Vicksburg was the Botetourt Virginia Artillery.
